  1. After viewing the different lessons I am looking forward to teaching a lot of the lessons from unit 2. I think the students will be able to identify branches of government and relate to things in their community.

  2. I'm actually looking forward to teaching the first lesson in Unit 2. I think that the kids will find the information about "The Great Flood of 1937" super interesting and I think that it's a great way to show how the government gets involved when dealing with natural disasters of that magnitude. The letter is also a great artifact to use when understanding what is was like for an actual person living at that time experiencing the disaster.

  3. After going through all of the lessons I am looking forward to teaching lesson 3. It seems to present a challenge when it comes to the puzzles and I like a challenge!

  4. I am looking forward to teaching lesson 4, which is about critical mindedness. I think that this lesson is simple, to the point and on the students level. It is very important for students to be able to take others opinions and thoughts into account when making a decision that could effect everyone!!

  5. I am really looking forward to teaching lesson 1. Learning about the flood of '37 and viewing the letters and other artifacts is something that interests me. I think the students will be really interested in this too because it is their community; they will be able to relate to some of the pictures, etc.

  7. I am looking forward to teaching lesson one in Unit 2 because in learning about the purpose of government, students will learn about the Great Flood of 1937. In the past, I have had students discuss this flood with a grandparent, older neighbor or family friend. They have brought in letters, newspapers from that time, and even magazines. It's a wonderful way to learn about primary sources! I can forsee students comparing/contrasting the government's response to the Great Flood of 1937 and the aftermath of Katrina.

  8. I am looking forward to teaching lesson 2. I like the way we are making the connection between the three branches of government. I am also looking forward to teaching lesson 9 on public services and discussing how they promote the common good.

  9. I am looking forward to the lesson with the Loyalist and Patriot tug a war! It will be so visual for my students to understand the lesson. I love the lessons on the causes of the Revolutionary War.
