  1. The OCON lessons have helped to build a respectful community amoung my students. Students use the lessons they learned to promote the common good. The lessons have also helped the students understand how the city handles situations and helps people in need.

  4. OCON has built a strong sense of community in my classroom. My students use terms learned in OCON in everyday conversation. Students have become more aware of the needs of others and the community. They really enjoy the OCON program and I happy that I got the opportunity to participate in this pilot program!!

  5. Although, I am very far behind...I'm really happy with the effect that the lessons have had on my students. The vocabulary comes up during class discussions and they have expressed a huge interest in wanting to do something for our community. It's very insightful listening to the conversations that they have with each other in regards to all of the civic dispositions. The lessons have also given me some sort of direction when planning my social studies instruction.

  6. OCON has been great in helping build a classroom community and helping students become more aware of what goes on in their communities. It has also provided a lot of local information to the students. They now understand their individual responsibility within their school and local communities.

  7. The main impact that the OCON lessons have had on my class is my students' increased willingness to make a difference in the classroom. For example, my students willingly pick up the classroom and help one another out this year.
